Hello All
Well,
things have been moving and changing quickly for me here in Cartagena. Since my
return from the UK doors have been flying open in terms of my vision to reach
girls caught in sexual exploitation here in the city. Many contacts with
projects here in Colombia and overseas as well as contacts with key people
within the city. I think God's timing may be now!!
This is scary and exciting in equal measure, however
it also reveals my need for further training and these doors are also opening.
Firstly in terms of my counselling skills, which have lain dormant since my
move to Latin America due to language difficulties, need updating and refining
into the areas of counselling children and victims of sexual violence. Thanks
to itunes university I have been able to start some free online courses to be
able to get into the flow of studying online and with the help of the
University Ministry members here in YWAM Cartagena I have knowledge of
university libraries I can access in order to have that psychological benefit
of going to a library to study!
I am planning to see how a couple of these courses go,
in terms of my ability to study independently and if that goes well I am
considering doing other accredited training online such as this course:
Another area in which I feel I need further training
is on how to lead a ministry. I trust that God will soon provide me with a team
of people who will come together to help me build this ministry but as I have
not had much experience as a leader Martin and Rossy have suggested I take the
6 week Leadership Development course (LDC) in PerĂº in October.
Of
course these later courses are not free! And although I have some money in the
pot for my ministry if you would like to partner with me first in attending the
LDC and then the certificate in counselling please use the donate button on
this blog or email me for information on how I can also claim gift aid from donations
over £30.
Mostly
please pray for me in these exciting and challenging times, studying independently
will be a challenge as will studying in Spanish, also please pray for good
meetings with the contacts I am making and plans to visit projects, starting in
September 16-23 when I will be in Bogota meeting various projects.
Thank
you so much for continuing support
Petra
