incommunicado!!

Blimey it has been nearly a month since my last blog post eep, sorry guys!!

so what has happened this month, well the library carries on as before, although we have another volunteer with us doing drama workshops twice a week so this means those who dont bring homework are going to that leaving the library a bit quieter!! The drama group are planning a presentation for Christmas, I am pushing for an English traditional nativity play, having written and produced several in the UK it would be a challenge to do the same in Spanish!

Also, we have reinvented the youth group slightly to encourage the youth to come more regularly, especially the boys. So last week we started a competition between the boys and girls, each week there will be a challenge for them to do as a team for points and also 5 points for which ever team has the best attendance. The first week has been a big success with 18 youth coming 9 from each team (although the girls won the points as only 8 boys took part in the challenge) and they did a treasure hunt which lead them to the beach where we then did the teaching part of the meeting. It was great to see them really enjoying themselves and grouping together with a LOT of competitiveness! The boys eventually pipped the girls at the post in finding the actual box of treasure (full of sweets for the team). All of the youth are really excited to see what is next, especially the girls as they need to win the next round! I don't have any photos as I have leant my camera to one of the DTS outreach teams who were going on their outreach without a single camera between them. However, Julia did take a few so will post them in a later blog.

On a personal note things are good, with all the students and most of the staff at the YWAM base now on outreach the few who are left are organising social events every Saturday night so last week we went over there for a quiz night with karaoke and I was able to surprise everyone with my interesting rendition of a hillsong classic in Spanish, complete with head-banging!!! Also, Johanna and I are now gripped by the X Factor watching online every weekend. Johanna has now asked for me not to translate as she wants to see what she understands in English, she is having problems with all the scousers on this years show though!!  One big challenge for me personally of late has been our neighbours new dog. Rafael, the young lad who lives next door, motivated by his girlfriend, has rescued a stray dog who it seems objects to being locked up in a back yard and thus barks ALL night nearly EVERY night!! As anyone who knows me is aware, sleep is very important for me and not something I do all that well so this noise next door means very little sleep for me. Please pray that this dog learns to be happy where he is or that Rafael will realise it isn't working and find a new home for it, perhaps with his girlfriend!

Hope you are all well, Love and Blessings
Petra
